If you've visited a bridal salon, you may have heard that a wedding dress needs to be ordered many months ahead. For a dress I make for you, the timeline is much shorter: about 2 weeks to sew, then 7–14 days to reach you. Here is how it works, step by step.
The short answer
| Step | How long |
|---|---|
| You order and send your measurements | 1–2 days, at your pace |
| I sew your dress | about 2 weeks (the exact time is on each product page) |
| Delivery to the US | about 7–14 days, free, with tracking |
| In total | about 3–5 weeks from your order |
The ostrich feather cape is faster: I make it in about 3 days.
Why it doesn't take months
Most bridal brands produce dresses in factories, in batches, and the dress you order joins a long queue. I'm one maker: I cut, sew and finish every Madmire dress by hand myself, one bride at a time. Your dress starts as soon as I have your measurements.
Step 1: Order and send your measurements
On the product page you pick your closest size as a starting point. After you order, you fill in a short measurement form, and my measuring guide shows how. I sew to your numbers, not to the size, so the dress fits you. Plus sizes cost the same.
Want different sleeves, another neckline, a new color or a different length? Changes are free. Message me before you order and I'll tell you what's possible.
Step 2: I sew your dress
Every dress is cut and sewn to order, so the time depends on the dress, and each product page shows it. Most dresses take me about 2 weeks. If you'd like to see your dress before it ships, message me while I'm sewing and I'll send you photos.
Step 3: Delivery
Shipping is free worldwide. Delivery to the US takes about 7–14 days after your dress is ready, and import duties for US orders are already included in the price, so there's nothing to pay at the door. Every order ships with a tracking number.
When should I order?
Add the sewing time shown on the dress to about 2 weeks for delivery. To leave room for any small alterations and for peace of mind, I suggest ordering at least 6–8 weeks before your wedding. If your date is closer, message me before you order and I'll tell you honestly whether the timing works.
