Colette

A bridal cape of soft natural ostrich feathers on a sheer silk tulle yoke. You wear it over your own wedding dress for the ceremony and photos, then slip it off for the reception. This is the cape only; the dress is not included. I sew every cape to order in my atelier in Kyiv.

Details

• Type: standalone feather cape (capelet), worn over a gown
• Yoke: sheer silk tulle with a high, softly draped neckline; pulls on over the head
• Feathers: a deep band of natural ostrich feathers across the bust and down the arms, matched to the color of the yoke
• Lengths: 30, 50, 70 or 96 cm (about 12, 20, 28 or 38 in)
• Fit: one size with an adjustable drape, made to suit US XS–XXL

The feathers move with every step and soften the line of your shoulders in photos. Because the cape sits on top, it goes over almost any gown: a slip dress, a satin A-line, a ball gown.

• A longer or shorter cape, or fuller feathers
• A matte illusion mesh yoke instead of silk tulle

Care

Keep the feathers dry and don't wash the cape. Shake it gently or use a stream of cool air to fluff the feathers. Steam the yoke lightly from the inside, away from the feathers. Store it on a padded hanger in a garment bag, without crushing the feathers.
